Games Workshop's Live Q&A; Thoughts On 8th Edition.

Hey guys, it's Bruce here with our first blog update in a long old while. If you are reading this blog, chances are you know a thing or two about tabletop games, so you probably know that GW just officially confirmed what we all knew was coming: a new edition of Warhammer 40k! I sat down this afternoon and watched GW's amazing live Q&A session and I've made notes on all the big changes they have confirmed will come with the new edition. Lets take a look: Big image behind the two hosts (Pete Foley, heading the team behind 8th ed and Andy Smilie, the head of the community team) is a large space marine helmet, blue on one side and green on the other. Probably hinting at the Ultramarine / Deathguard starter set ? Andy repeatedly mentions that a huge amount of the rules have been created using feedback from the Facebook page and online forums like Bolter and Chainsword / Dakkadakka etc.   Movement is changing. No longer blanket ruling different types of...

Six Up Starts SIGMAR! (Possible NSFW image?)

**Pre-blog post warning - This should have been published around Septeber last year, but it doesnt look as though it was ever posted. I make several references to Christmas throughout this post so if you're thinking "tthis was posted in April, why is Bruce banging on about Christmas!?" you'll know why. ;). Anyway, back to the blog post... My first dalliance into AOS came in the form of and old box of Fantasy Wood Elves. My fiancée, Rachael, loves to paint but can never find (and I quote) "Pretty girls with beautiful hair". I was mooching through Andy's old stock at Worcester Wargames and I picked up a box of Elves called "Sisters of the Thorn", featuring some very cutsey looking elven ladies riding on deer. The Sisters of the Thorn.  I bought them knowing Rachael would be exited to paint them, so I assembled them in the shop. Andy noticed I'd got some fantasy models and asked if I wanted a game of Sigmar.       Now, I...

Skirmish 2 -The Results

Hi there all, the weekend saw Six Ups Skirmish 2 a competitive tournament of Warhammer 40k. Sam as usual had planned a challenging but fun day complete with Secret Objective cards. Many dice were rolled as some mighty armies and a few cheese boards competed for victory.  So here are the victors 1st 2nd and 3rd, best painted army and model as well as best sport and the much sort after wooden spoon.  First up we have Chris Collins who took home our wooden spoon ensuring this mighty trophy was his Chris made an extra tactical decision in his last game to make sure he failed his secret mission listing him tournament points what a legend  Next we have the painting competition this was judged in two ways. First up Best Painted Army was voted for by the players themselves.  There were some fantastic armies on display but the winner was Tom Baker and his Imperial Knights.  For the single model category the judging was done by Six Ups Sam and Worcester Wargames own Andy ...

Tarsis 4, hosted by Geno52 and Incom Gaming

Today Sam went to Cheltenham to join in with 19 other people on a narrative 30k campaign day. This post will review the day, show off some of the armies that attended and detail how each game went for The Iron Warriors.  First of all I wish to say what a fantastic day that I had. I drove down with Ben Fletcher who was using his warp cult and allied knights and was prepared for a few games of heresy. What I got was three amazing games with friendly and fun opponents. To top this off there was a fluffy element to the whole event running throughout. With people bringing lists which showed off their legions strengths and not following the standard net list builds that you sometimes see in a 40k event. The event was well thought out and well ran by Tom and Stu. Loyalists vs traitors and a winning team, not individual. Which brought about a sense of comradery. Here is the list that I took. I made a 2000 and 2500 point list and used the latter twice and the former once.   Game one Fo...

Super Dungeon Explore!

Hey all, Bruce here with yet another side project I'm working on. I've recently found myself the proud owner of both the original Super Dungeon Explore board game and the more recent Super Dungeon Explore V2; The Forgotten King. For those of you who have never seen / played Super Dungeon Explore, it plays like a classic dungeon crawler (think Space Crusade or Hero Quest) but with an adorable Chibi-style anime theme. The game started off as a kick-starter project by "Soda Pop Miniatures" and they are working on a kick-starter for a third game to release at the end of the year. I came across this game purely by chance, rummaging around the Firestorm Games Store in Cardiff whilst Sam, Charles, Jamie #2 and I were attending the Vale Renegades' most recent tourney which was hosted there. As I was rooting through all the amazing board games, collectables and miniatures I found a little box with a single mini in it. The "Tabbybrook Mage". The model...

Led kits and knights

Sam here with a small write up to review a product I have got recently which I think is just plain awesome. I am starting an imperial Knight army at the moment and wanted to somethig to make them pop a little more (they will be bright yellow so needed something rather extravegant) so I had seen some pictures online of people who had added LED's to their knights and was hooked. I searched the internet for some sources and found that it did not easily yield any obvious choices. A lot of expensive kits appeared for remote control cars and model train kits but I wanted something with one battery, switch and two led's without the hasstle of soldering myself. Then I came accross this website  http://www.smallscalelights.co.uk Easy to navigate Low cost Range of products Fantastic customer service! I had emails with instructions arrive upon payment as well as shilling information. All in all it cost me around £10 for the kit including the battery I had to buy seperate. Using the kit Th...
